Voluntary

National Youth Ambassador | Duke of Edinburgh's Award | Jun 2025 - Jun 2026

The DofE selects just 30 young people each year aged 16–24, from across the entire UK, to represent the charity. I was one of them, advising on youth employability, influencing the direction of the Award, and helping shape its future. Over a 12-month voluntary commitment, I contributed across events, advocacy, focus groups, and content creation. This role helped me develop my public speaking, communication, leadership, advocacy, and adaptability skills, often in rooms full of people far older and far more experienced than me.

  • 🎤 Spoke and hosted events, putting the participant perspective directly in front of donors and charity leaders, including HRH Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh
  • 📋 Sat in discussions that fed internal decision-making, including changes to the Expedition and Residential requirements and the DofE's long-term strategy
  • 🏛️ Contributed to the charity's research by offering a different perspective
  • 🎥 Created and shared social content for the DofE's national channels
  • 🎓 Completed professional media and public speaking training
  • 👥 Built close connections with a handful of ambassadors from every corner of the UK
  • 📖 Completed personal development training and Ofqual qualifications during my time in the role

This role put me in the room where decisions actually get thought about, and showed me that feedback from young people might potentially change the outcome.
